Old Leamingtonians Ladies Match Report
Old Leamington Ladies 51 v Longton Ladies 0 Old Leams played their
first league game of the season on Sunday against Longton and cruised
to a 51-0 win getting them off to a flying start in National challenge
1.
This Sunday saw the ladies first league match of the new season played
at the Crofts. A crowd turned out in the sunshine to watch the ladies'
revitalised team cruise to a 51-0 win against Longton thanks to some
great plays from the new look back line.
No.8, and forward of the match, Caz Spence opened the scoring 10
minutes into the first half after supporting a long miss pass in the
backs out to debut winger Rachel Trowton who continued with her
driving runs later in the game to score herself.
Penetrating runs from Centres, Vicky Kerr and new arrival Ellin
Pettersson continued to cause problems for the Longton defence
throughout the half leading to further tries from Flanker, Katie Lyne,
another for Caz Spence and two for full back Vicky Lewis making the
half time score 30-0 to Old Leamingtonians.
Despite a lack of discipline in the OL's forwards, who gave away
several penalties throughout the match, they stepped up in the second
half improving their rucking and putting in some great tackles
supported by back of the match Danni Benge. Clean ball out to the
backs allowed centre Vicky Stokes and Vicky Lewis to add to the
scoreline. Three conversions in the second half by Vicky Stokes made
the final score 51-0 to the home side and left Old Leamingtonians
Ladies celebrating a convincing victory in their first game.
